NEW MEMBER OFFER.  The yacht club can use everyone's help in recruiting new members.   We are offering a set of special edition LYC hats for members who recruit new members.  The hats will go to both the new members and the members who have successfully recruited them.  Offer ends at the Kickoff Party May 12th.  So please go out and recruit new members to join LYC.   Family's with sailing age children can take advantage of the sailing school, rent a boat to start and then also meet the membership at our social functions.   LYC is a great way for families to meet others on and around the lake, so please invite your on and off lake friends to join for 2012.

Many thanks to Karen Treptan for designing and sewing the Team LaBelle quilt square which will become part of the traveling ILYA X regatta quilt originating at Delavan this year.   The winning yacht club gets to keep and display the quilt for a year.

Condolences to Jacky and the entire Morgan family on the passing of Lou Senior.

We are sad to report the loss of  Lou Morgan, Sr., who passed away Sunday afternoon 2-19-12.   Lou will be missed but cherished always for his selfless contributions to LYC, WYA, ILYA and Oconomowoc charities.   Lou was an extraordinary sailor representing LYC in both C and in A boats on Pewaukee.   He was Commodore of   LYC in 1964, WYA from 72-74 and ILYA in 1990.   He was also past admiral of the ILYA bilge pullers and was a major influence on the founding of the annual Lac Labelle Red, White and Blue regatta.  Lou and his family will always be celebrated for completing an amazing around the world race in 2000.   Lou being Lou, he gave his time to many Wisconsin sailors young and old sharing the once in a lifetime experiences of that race.   It goes without saying that Lou was also a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.   His guidance, wit and energy will be missed by all.  On behalf of the entire LYC, we offer our condolences to the Morgan family.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
